ECFC Weekly Honors for September 7, 2009

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Keith Barnes, Maritime College
(Sophomore, LB - Westbury, N.Y./Westbury)
Keith Barnes led the N.Y. Maritime defense with 7.5 total tackles
earning ECFC Defensive Player of the Week. The first-year
linebacker was a vital piece of the Privateers defense that held
Mass. Maritime to just 14 points in the 31-14 victory at the third
annual Chowder Bowl.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kyle Watkins, Mount Ida College
(Senior, WR - New Haven, CT/James Hillhouse HS)
Senior wideout Kyle Watkins hauled in 11 catches for 162 yards and
three touchdowns in a 40-29 loss to New England Football Conference
powerhouse Bridgewater State College this past Saturday.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Evan Cassidy, Castleton State
College
(Fr., KR - South Burlington, VT)
Evan Cassidy provided an instant spark for Castleton in the
Spartans' 42-28 win over Anna Maria. The freshman wideout took the
opening kick-off 70 yards before being forced out of bounds at the
12 yard line allowing the Spartans to score just three minutes into
the contest. In the second half, Cassidy ran a kick-off back for a
78-yard touchdown while adding a nother score on a 30-yard
reception. The freshman racked up 193 all-purpose yards and the two
touchdowns in the historic win.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
James McFadden, Norwich University
(Fr., RB - Sunrise, Fla.)
James McFadden ran for 143 yards and three touchdowns on just nine
carries in a heartbreaking 28-27 loss to Western New England. The
freshman gained another 98 yards on four kickoff returns for a
totaled of 240 all-purpose yards in his first career college game.
