ECFC Opens Conference Play Saturday
The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference opens its second season of league play Saturday. The week's matchups are highlighted by a rematch of the 2009 Championship game between Norwich and Mount Ida.
The 3-0 Cadets are ranked 3rd in the lastest New England Division III Football Poll. Norwich defeated Mount Ida twice last season with both games in Northfield, Vermont. The Mustangs are 1-1 having lost a close battle with Bridgewater before defeating Plymouth State 41-16 last week and have had a week off to prepare for the defending league champs.
Castleton (0-2) travels to Gallaudet (0-1). The Bison have won the past two weeks against non-countable opponents while the Spartans had the week off to prepare for the trip after falling to Utica 59-22 on Sept 11. Kickoff at 12pm at Hotchkiss Field.
Husson (0-3) will visit Maritime (3-0) who has posted 41 points two consectuive weeks on their way to a perfect start. A year ago, Husson defeated the Privateers 35-26 in Bangor, Maine.
Anna Maria (0-3) and Becker (0-3) will begin a cross-town rivalry with each program looking for their first victory of the young season. The two schools have never met.
