SUNY-Maritime Receives Votes In ECAC Lambert Meadowlands Division III Poll

he Maritime football team is receiving votes in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Lambert Meadowlands Division III Poll, which was released by the conference on Monday. The recognition comes as the Privateers are in the midst of their best start in program history, an undefeated 6-0. This is also the first time in program history that Maritime has appeared on any kind of poll, either regionally or nationally.

“It is really an honor to be recognized in this poll,” said sixth-year head coach Clayton Kendrick-Holmes. “This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of these players and the coaching staff. There is still a lot of season left to play and we have to focus one week at a time.”

To be eligible for the Lambert Meadowlands Poll, a school must be located in the East or play at least half of its schedule against eligible Lambert teams. To read the complete release from the ECAC, click here.

The Privateers improved to 6-0 after a 41-28 Week Six road victory over Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) opponent Castleton State up in Vermont. With that victory, Maritime also moved into sole possession of first place in the ECFC with a 3-0 mark. The Privateers began the season with three wins over non-conference opponents Mass. Maritime, Western Connecticut State and Kings Point. Maritime then opened conference play with a 47-21 victory over Husson at home, before a 43-20 road win over Anna Maria.

The Maritime football team returns to action this coming Saturday, Oct. 16. The Privateers will clash with the Hawks of Becker College, who come into the contest with a 1-5 overall record (1-2 ECFC). Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
