View ESPN Feature Video on Coach Kendrick-Holmes And Privateer Football Team

Video aired on ESPN’s SportsCenter

The Maritime football team and sixth-year head coach Clayton Kendrick-Holmes will be featured in a segment on ESPN’s daily sports news show SportsCenter, Wednesday, Nov. 10. The piece will air during the live 9 a.m. broadcast of the show and will be repeated every hour until 3 p.m. It will re-air in the evening during the 6 p.m. SportsCenter and then again throughout the night after the broadcast of the NBA Wednesday doubleheader.

ESPN has been honoring the veterans and troops of the United States armed services with ‘America’s Heroes: A Salute to Our Veterans,’ which began on Saturday, Nov. 6, and will continue through Veterans Day this Thursday, Nov. 11. This will culminate with special SportsCenter editions live from U.S. Army Garrison Grafenwoehr Parade Field in Grafenwoehr, Germany, on Thursday.

The feature will focus on Kendrick-Holmes’ service in the U.S. Navy Reserves and his impeding deployment to Afghanistan as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy upon the conclusion of the 2010 football season. The piece will look further into Kendrick-Holmes’ life here at Maritime and the impact his decision to answer the Navy’s call has impacted his family, his team and the college.

Camera crews were on campus to begin filming the story two weeks ago and made the trip down to Washington, D.C., to capture footage from the Privateers’ exciting 21-14 victory over Gallaudet this past Saturday. The win ended Maritime football team’s regular season with a perfect 10-0 mark, a week after the Privateers claimed the 2010 ECFC Championship with a victory over Norwich.

The Maritime football team will now wait for the NCAA Division III Football Championship Selection Show, which is scheduled to air on Sunday, Nov. 14, at 3 p.m. on ESPNews.
