Becker Head Coach Frank Forcucci provies his thoughts on the upcoming season
LEICESTER, Mass. – Coming off their best season in program history (7-3), first year head coach Frank Forcucci returns 34 players from the 2015 team, including five offensive starters and six defenders.
Junior quarterback Nas Sinkfield-Shelton (New Rochelle, N.Y.) is looking to build off of his sophomore campaign; in which he threw for 2351 yards and 19 touchdowns, earning ECFC First Team honors. Sinkfield-Shelton also rushed for 196 yards and four scores. Senior running back Jacob Homes (Worcester, Mass.) is also coming off a career year with 674 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns (11 rushing, two receiving). Other key returners on the offensive side of the ball are seniors Brandon Mulling (454 yards, five touchdowns) and ECFC First Team selection DeJahn Dawkins (776 yards, eight touchdowns).
On the defensive side of the ball, Forcucci will look to seniors Alexander Stewart and Davin Collins to lead the way. Collins made 74 tackles and hauled in four interceptions from his defensive back position in 2015, earning him a spot on the ECFC First Team. The Hawks also return a pair of ECFC Second Team selections in junior defensive back Shane Padeni and defensive lineman Alexander Stewart. Pandeni finished the 2015 season fourth on the Hawks with 69 tackles, while Stewart clogged up the middle with 61 tackles, including 13 tackles for a loss.
Becker will open the 2016 season on Friday, September 2nd when they host Fitchburg State University at 7:00 p.m.
