OCTOBER 16TH, 2017

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, October 15th. Maritime’s Thomas Wright (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Husson’s Cory Brandon (Pembroke, Mass.) were named Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Mount Ida’s Josh David (Sandown, N.H.) earned Defensive Player of the Week, while Gallaudet’s Darrion Green (DeSoto, Texas) and Husson’s Jean Gabriel (Lake Worth, Fla.) were tabbed Rookie and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively.

Co-Offensive Players of the Week

Thomas Wright - Maritime (N.Y)
(Junior, QB – Wantagh, N.Y.)

Wright threw for 334 yards in Saturday's win, which is second most in school history for a single game after his Wright's performance earlier this season against Mass. Maritime. He completed 26 passes, which was second most for a Maritime quarterback, also behind his week two win over Mass. Maritime. Wright threw for two touchdowns to set the single-season touchdown passing record, and also set the single-season record for total offensive yards by one player as he now has 1,783 yards to his credit.

Cory Brandon - Husson University
(Junior, QB – Pembroke, Mass.)

Brandon led Husson to its 12th straight victory at home and its 10th straight ECFC win on Saturday. He connected on 15-of-17 passes - an 88.2 completion percentage, breaking the previous single-game mark of 84.6 - for 183 yards and four touchdowns against Castleton. The junior QB struck for touchdowns of 5, 18, 11, and 13 yards on the day and did not throw an interception. Brandon started the game by completing his first 14 passes before throwing an incomplete pass, setting a new single-game school record for most consecutive passes completed. He also became the school's all-time career in passes completed with 267.

Defensive Player of the Week

Josh David – Mount Ida College
(Senior, LB – Sandown, N.H.)

Josh David led the Mustangs defensive effort in a 14-7 win over the Dean Bulldogs on Saturday. David had 18 total tackles on the afternoon, including 11 solo tackles. He also had one tackle for loss, pushing the Bulldogs back 5 yards.

Rookie of the Week

Darrion Green – Gallaudet University
(Freshman, SL – DeSoto, Texas)

Green had 95 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns for the Bison in their 35-19 win over Alfred State. The rookie ran for a career best 68 yards on nine carries and scored one touchdown while he caught one touchdown pass for 27 yards in the second quarter. He scored GU's second TD of the game on a 12-yard run as Gallaudet led 14-0 early.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Jean Gabriel – Husson University
(Senior, DB – Lake Worth, Fla.)

Gabriel was a busy guy in Husson's 49-0 win at home over Castleton. In the first half, he blocked a punt setting up Husson's second touchdown of the first quarter. In the third quarter, he blocked a punt again that was recovered at the Castleton 47, setting up the Eagles' last touchdown of the game as he surpassed his single-season record of most blocked kicks (3) with his fourth in 2017. In addition, Gabriel recorded an interception, 1.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, and had six total tackles, four solo with a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry in the victory. Gabriel became the first player in HU history to record two different two-blocked punts games in their career.
